- We are nestled in the foothills of the Cascade Mountain Range. Without a doubt, the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen. This is a view from our front yard.
We started our goat adventure with one doe in 2002. She happened to be an Oberhasli. We have grown to love the Ober breed and now have a small ADGA registered herd.
We strive to raise our goats as natural as possible. They are fed – quality grass hay and grain (A mix of local goat feed, hi-pro cob & alfalfa pellets) with free choice minerals. They are fed a small amount of diatemacious earth on a regular basis.
We separate the does into the ‘maternity ward’ about 5 days before they are due (around 145 days gestation). They will remain there with the kids for the first 2 weeks. At about 2 weeks of age, we separate the does from the kids at night…. for about 12 hours. First thing in the morning the does are milked and returned to the kids for the rest of the day. The kids are completely raised on their dams for 2 – 3 months.
We started testing the entire herd for CAE, CL & Johne’s Disease Jan 08′…. and will have follow-up tests each January.
